
Dr. Linda Oge Okoye is a distinguished dental surgeon and academic. She completed her primary education at Zik’s Avenue Primary School in Enugu and her secondary education at Federal Government College, Port Harcourt. Pursuing higher education, she earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 1990. In 2005, she qualified as a Consultant Dental Surgeon and subsequently joined the faculty at UNN, where she was posted to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) as a Lecturer and Restorative Dental Consultant.
In 2011, Dr. Okoye made history by becoming the first alumnus to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at UNN. During her tenure, she was instrumental in securing full accreditation for the faculty from the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council after 29 years of non-recognition. She established state-of-the-art facilities, including the Phantom Heads Laboratory, Prosthetic Laboratory, and Advanced Operative Technique Laboratory. Dr. Okoye also facilitated collaborations between UNN’s Faculty of Dentistry and international institutions such as the University of British Columbia in Canada and Georgia State Health Sciences University in the USA, leading to book donations and exchange programs.
Beyond academia, Dr. Okoye serves as the Medical Director of Dentslyn Dental Clinic in Enugu, providing quality dental care to the community. She is also the founder of Battle Axe Women Fellowship International (BAWFI), a non-governmental, interdenominational organization dedicated to empowering women to be agents of change in society. Through BAWFI, she has supported and empowered many widows and indigent individuals in Enugu State. She has advocated for policies such as monthly stipends for widows in Nigeria, highlighting her commitment to social justice.
Throughout her career, Dr. Okoye has received numerous awards, including the International Association for Dental Research/Colgate Research in Prevention Award (2009), the Stone Mountain Church Award of Excellence (2009), the Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria Medical Excellence Award (2009), the European Association for Caries Research Award (2010), the African Award of Excellence in Leadership (2013), the International College of Dentists Fellowship Award (2014), and the PSR Woman of Merit Gold Award (2014).
Dr. Okoye is married to Pastor Emeka Okoye, known as “The Oracle of God,” from Ifite Ogbunike in Anambra State. Their union is blessed with five children.
