Dr. Hindol Das is an emerging leader in global oral health research and policy, with research interests in preventive dentistry, oral epidemiology, and health systems strengthening. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in Dental Public Health at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, where he leads a pioneering cluster-randomized trial evaluating a school-based oral health curriculum designed to reduce dental caries and improve oral hygiene behaviors among children in India.
A recipient of the prestigious ICMR Nurturing Clinical Scientists Fellowship, Dr. Das’s research contributions have been widely recognized through several competitive grants and honors, including research funding from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), international travel grants from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India, and numerous Best Poster Awards at national and international conferences. Recently he was awarded the University of Sydney Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Population Oral Health to pursue a second Ph.D., as well as the Amrita Innovation & Research Chancellor’s Award for excellence in extramural funding and high-impact publication output.
He was part of the SLGOH 2025 cohort by the Alliance for Oral Health Across Borders (AOHAB). His project, “Perceptions of Parents, Teachers, and Caregivers on the Long-Term Sustainability of an Oral Health Curriculum in Indian Schools,” earned the Best Scientific Poster Award at the AADMD One Voice Conference 2025 in Phoenix, USA.
A frequent presenter at prestigious international forums such as the FDI World Dental Congress, Dr. Das actively contributes to global oral health initiatives and serves as a peer reviewer for various journals like the JBI Evidence Synthesis. His research agenda emphasizes equity-driven, community-focused strategies and health systems addressing the global burden of oral diseases.
Dedicated to fostering international collaboration and advancing oral health equity, Dr. Das proudly serves as a Board of Directors Alumni Representative for AOHAB. He remains deeply committed to shaping transformative global health policies, driving innovation, and advocating for cross-border solutions that promote sustainable oral health education, research, and policy reforms.
