
Wisdom Okereke is a dynamic and forward-thinking professional who earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the esteemed College of Medicine at the University of Nigeria in 2023 and completed his one year housemanship at the National Hospital, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria.
Dr. Wisdom works as a dentist at the Ideal Dental Services Ltd, a leading dental healthcare provider in FCT- Abuja, Nigeria. He is also the Programme Coordinator and Community Engagement Manager of Ideal Dental Foundation International (IDFI), the corporate social responsibility arm of the Ideal Dental Services Ltd/ a non governmental, non profit organization that facilitates the improvements of oral health care among the young and aged, especially in the vulnerable, underserved and indigent populations of the society, through the organization of oral health missions where dental education and basic dental treatment are provided free of charge.
He currently serves as the Public Relation Officer of the Nigerian Dental Association FCT-Abuja Chapter, and also the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the African Dental Students Association (AfroDSA).
Dr. Wisdom is the immediate Past President of the African Dental Students’ Association – the leading body of Dental students across Africa. Virtue of his superlative experience in leadership – both in the local and international scene, Wisdom has honed his administrative, analytical, and communication skills in tandem with different climes and their unique challenges. His extensive experience includes organizing and volunteering for significant public health initiatives in Nigeria, such as the 2022 Medical and Dental Outreaches by the Nigerian Association of Dental Students and the 2023 World Oral Health Day campaigns in collaboration with Bright Smiles, Bright Futures of the Colgate-Palmolive Nigeria.
Dr. Wisdom was part of the SLGOH 2022 cohort by the Alliance for Oral Health Across Borders (AOHAB). Driven by a commitment to equitable and sustainable healthcare, Wisdom led a community health research project titled; “KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICES RELATED TO EARLY CHILDHOOD CARIES (ECC) OF COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS (CHWS) IN THE MATERNAL & POSTNATAL HEALTH (MPH) SERVICES IN PRIMARY HEALTHCARE CENTERS AT NKANU WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS, ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA” which was recognized by the Alliance for Oral Health Across Borders (AOHAB) and his project was among the selected posters for presentation at the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD) One Voice Conference for Inclusive Health in Denver, Colorado in 2023.
Wisdom has also published in international peer-reviewed journals, with additional works currently under review. His dedication to advancing global health programs, coupled with his enthusiasm for community service, professional development, and continuous learning, underscores his impactful contributions and leadership in organizational dentistry. He hopes to advance his education in the field of Public Health and Healthcare Management.
As a young professional, Wisdom is committed to learning from the luminaries within and beyond his profession in a bid to make an indelible mark in the advancement of Oral health and public health in Africa.
