Amal Ali, DDS, MPH, is a Dental Public Health consultant for the Government of Somaliland in East Africa. Dr Ali supports the National Health Professions Commission (NHPC) with dental regulation and the Ministry of Health Development in designing and planning national oral health strategies. Dr Ali’s primary focus is to improve oral health and increase dental utilization in Somaliland, focusing on vulnerable, marginalized and rural communities. Dr Ali is a Swedish qualified and trained dentist with over ten years of clinical experience from Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia in both private and public clinical settings. In addition, Dr Ali was very involved in prevention and promotion programs helping immigrants and refugees with their oral health needs in Scandinavia.
